Hello,
my name is Zach Shames and this is my resume/cv

About Me

I graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Computer Science in 2018. Currently, I am a Threat Intelligence Engineer working in the Cyber Security domain. I create integrations to help different threat response components communicate with each other. Whether it be a threat intelligence platform, incident response system, IDS, or orchestration platform, I write code to make sure that these systems integrate and communicate seamlessly. The goal is to make sure one's threat response ecosystem is running at full capacity, and nothing is missed or lost in translation.

I have worked with many platforms from vendors such as McAfee, Symantec, Cisco, Splunk, Crowdstrike, ServiceNow, IBM, and many more. Furthermore, I have worked with industry standards such as STIX/TAXII, DXL, and more. Using my wide breadth of knowledge in languages such as Python, NodeJS (front-end/back-end), HTML, and others, I'm versitile enough to pivot to whatever medium is required to work with any technology.

Cyber Security is a huge part of everyone’s lives whether they know it or not. I am doing what I can to help mitigate those threats. I am also interested in developing new programs and expanding my skills to make me a more well-rounded programmer. I have been programming for the past 10 years, and in my spare time I code various programs/websites. I am passionate about anything and everything internet and technology.

Experiences

ThreatQuotient, Inc.
May 2019 - Present | Reston, VA
Threat Intelligence Engineer
Working with sales, business development, and engineering, I aim to bridge the gap between the three. Mainly, I work on the pre-sales side of things where development needs to be fast past and reliable. I gather requirements from potential customers and I figure out how to best leverage our platform to enhance their threat response ecosystem. The end goal is to win a POC and gain a customer.
ThreatQuotient, Inc.
May 2017 - 2019 | Reston, VA
Solutions Architect
Worked with the Threat Intelligence Services team to write integrations and operations for the ThreatQ Platform. These services use API to API communication to bring in data from various Threat Intelligence Platforms. These integrations are written in Python and leveraged a custom SDK to create indicators, events, and adversaries.
Northrop Grumman Corporation
Summer 2015/2016 | McLean, VA
College Technical Intern
For my first year, I worked on the FirstNet team at Northrop Grumman and was responsible for coding a front-end website (HTML, Javascript, CSS), coding a back-end server (Java), and managing a database (MSSQL). In order to bring the user the best experience for the front-end, I utilized Javascript frameworks such as Bootstrap and AngularJS to create a robust website.

For my second year, I worked on the IDENT1 team to create a responsive web-UI for a legacy app using NodeJS with ReactJS. I created a RESTify server in NodeJS, and I also created a corresponding ReactJS single-page app to mimic the functions of the legacy applciation coded in C.
Neustar, Inc.
Summer 2014 | Sterling, VA
Software Engineer Intern
I worked with 3 different teams to manage the NPAC (Number Portability Administration Center). The first team I worked with managed Neustar's VPN, the second team I worked with managed the PAS (Pooling Administration System), and the third team I worked with managed all of the blades for the servers the company ran.

The majority of the coding I did was in Java, Javascript, and HTML. I used Java to parse through logs, and I used Javascript and HTML to create the website where the parsed information would be displayed. Through this job, I learned how to use Linux Servers, WebLogic (by Oracle), GIT, Maven, Grep, Sed, Awk, and much more.
Self Employed
2012 - 2017
Freelance Software Engineer
Occasionally, I work on paid and unpaid freelancing projects to create websites and other programs.

Projects / Portfolio

Venture App
2016 - Current
Back-end Developer
In this project, I am the lead programmer on a team of 3. Together, we are using AdonisJS (framework) to create a RESTful API server that will receive and respond to requests from an iOS app.

This API server is not made specifically for the iOS app and can be used for any client (returns JSON).
Groupie.io
Discontinued (2016)
Front-end and Back-end Developer
This was a small personal project that i was working on alone. I used NodeJS along with ReactJS (ES6) and Socket.io to create a group chat web app.

In the latest commit/version, users could create an account, then create a new group or join an existing gorup
CodeCollab.io
Discontinued (2016)
Front-end and Back-end Developer
Working with a team of 4 people, including myself, we worked to create a website dedicated to helping programmers find projects and groups of people to work on and socialize with, respectively.

For the back-end, I helped develop the API server using Laravel 5 (PHP). This also includes helping create and manage the MySQL server.

For the front-end (which is not finished), I helped develop the website's pages and forms. Also lightly worked on the user interface.
Clash of Clans Bot
Discontinued (2014)
Part-time Developer
With a team of about 3-5 people, I helped develop an application that would essentially play the mobile game, Clash of Clans for you.

When I joined the project, it was coded fully in AutoIT. I helped them develop some features, but soon helped port the code to C#. Project is now dead, however, it was a good personal experience that helped me work on my teamwork.
